Social Networking sites are websites which focuses on building online communities. Social networking sites are places in cyberspace where people with the same interest, likes and dislikes and other common denominators meet, exchange ideas, photographs or videos. They can also share blogs, communicate and connect with other people in the network. Probably the most common feature among social networking sites is the email and the instant messaging service.
Examples of online communities are MySpace, Friendster and Facebook. These are websites where friends, classmates, family or office mates can chat with each other, catch up, view photographs and correspond.
MySpace, one of the most visited social networking sites started out as a website for bands to post gigs and advertise concerts and other happenings. Today MySpace is not just a website for bands, it has expanded into a huge network of professionals, artists and ordinary people who want to share to the world their services, wares, products, hobbies or just about anything that is of interest.
Social network designs explore the creative minds of the individuals who use these online communities. Layouts can match a user’s mood, interest or hobby. These can be custom designed either through the help of a professional layout artist or through your imagination.
