How to Get Traffic from MySpace

Posted on Sketchfirm Blog by admin

Unlike any other social networking site, MySpace is very flexible and you can do things with it. As a marketing tool, MySpace is not very restrictive compared to others which limit your friend requests at around 20 per day. It also allows you to join groups within your niche—a great marketing move to people selling stuff.

To get notice, you need a catchy MySpace custom design and a very interesting content which can be in forms of audio, video clips and photos. You can also incorporate there your portfolio, if you have one. This is great for photographers, models and artists to get noticed and land projects as well.

But of course it doesn’t stop there. In order for your MySpace profile to work, you need to lure people. You need to drive traffic to your MySpace profile which can either be linked to your main website or just promote through MySpace. You need to spend invaluable time there making friends, joining communities, blogging, posting bulletins, making mails and commenting on other people’s MySpace profile. Generally, that is how MySpace works. MySpace should be used for building relationships—not for aggressive marketing. Those who failed to notice that rule tends to be ignored by other members.

The overwhelming number of MySpace members will only convince you that MySpace is the best marketing tool so far and would provide a great boost for your marketing campaigns if managed correctly. Just avoid spamming please and let’s keep it clean and fun.

Q&A with a MySpace Designer

Posted on Sketchfirm Blog by admin

MySpace has become a way of life for many people around the world. Before, it was just your ordinary social networking site but today, more and more personalities of different genre discover its character-building potential and offer more interactive way of reaching out to people.

This opened doors for professional MySpace designers, a very in-demand individuals nowadays because of the increasing number of clients now ready to get noticed in the networking arena. What can I say? They are the experts in this field so let’s hear it from them.

GS (the interviewer): I’ve noticed that upon searching the internet, there are many individuals who offer professional MySpace designing services. As a client, can I trust just anybody to do this work for me?

MySpace Designer (the interviewee): To tell you the truth, no. A respectable marketing company hires a large group of professional MySpace designers to work hand-in-hand with just a single project. This is done to maximize the client’s potential in entering the networking scene and usually it does not end there. So you see, this can’t be done by just one person alone.

GS: Okay, that’s true. Why do we need MySpace when we can make our own website?

MySpace Designer: MySpace is still a social networking site per se. Social networking by definition means social structure that binds people with commonalities. By joining this social structure, you can grab more attention from your target public and there is always a chance that someone might accidentally stumble upon your MySpace profile.

GS: That also happens with websites right?

MySpace Designer: Only when you are specifically searched in the internet and sometimes, these surfers, they tend to forget what they are looking for when distracted with other things that will catch their attentions first. MySpace is a way to gain potential visitors to check you out.

GS: Of all the social networking sites created, why MySpace?

MySpace Designer: MySpace is very flexible to change. Actually, you can change everything in there unlike other social networking sites that has boundaries.

Designing your MySpace layout

Posted on Sketchfirm Blog by admin

Design can mean numerous things; there is fashion design, classical art design, interior design, just so many that people don’t even think of it as a talent or even an art within itself. However, in this line of business, web design is simply described as the most modern type of art. It is an art through technology.

MySpace has become the latest fad all over the world. Every person from every different country logs onto their personalized homepage on MySpace to converse with fellow friends. Besides MySpace being the most excellent place to chat with your friends and even meet new ones. It’s also a great place to really show off your own ideas, your own creativity and talent.

Around 2003, when MySpace was founded, it wasn’t easy to just Google search ‘layouts’ for your MySpace. Of course, now if you were to Google search MySpace layouts, you would get a great deal of links to personalize your account the way you want to.

Most people want classy, yet something that makes their page bring their personality or talent to life. Most pre-made layouts don’t offer a large sum of creativity. They all seem to be basic such as; Winter layouts, beach layouts, girly layouts, movie layouts, etc, which is great for new comers that just created a MySpace, or who are around 15 years of age. However, what about people that want something more up to date, or creative, something that doesn’t scream over worked or I just pimped my MySpace with the tackiest pre-made layout I could find.

Less seems to be more when it comes to this sort of design. No one likes to click on someone’s personal MySpace and have to wait a large amount of time for the page to load because that person decided to bomb there MySpace with a very loud, brightly colored layout, and numerous amount of graphics.

Designing for the latest and well known site such as MySpace is not just about the color, the photos, or even the structure of each individual layout. It’s about the effort, and artistic ability that goes into it. Something that reads your specific personality, but that also shows how much work went into creating this piece of art.

Facebook vs MySpace

Posted on Sketchfirm Blog by admin

Facebook started out as a way for college students to get in touch with each other.  It has since become one of the most visited social networking sites on the internet.  MySpace on the other hand, began as a way for indie bands to get gigs and communicate with other bands.

While it is true that anybody with a legitimate email address can sign in and use both these services, Facebook is organized by schools which makes getting in touch with classmates easier. In MySpace most members have multiple accounts making it harder for those serious in communicating with their friends or classmates.  Accounts like Jessica Rabbit, Clark Kent and other fictitious characters abound in MySpace. This does not deter new members from joining daily. The MySpace crew is happy to remain hidden until they are ready to shine their stars. MySpace has come face to face with destiny and it has finally realized it is not like Facebook, another social gathering place, MySpace is homebase for indie artists, bands, filmmakers, models and anyone who has talent waiting to be discovered.

Layout wise, Myspace slams Facebook in this category.  Facebook can be customized but it has many limitations, not to mention a gazillion apps. MySpace on the other hand, allows its members to do anything they want with their pages. A professional myspace layout can serve as a canvas to the talented community.

A few months back, spam, spyware and viruses were found in MySpace.  This is again due to the fact that members can edit their web pages.  This has led to problems with users being spammed with adult websites, advertisements for products and other annoying bugs.  Facebook is believed to be safer but google someone and 9 times out of 10 it’s their Facebook picture that comes up on top of the search making Facebook the easier to find me community.

Both MySpace and Facebook are powerfull communities with a list of pros and cons. The bottom line is if you want to be a player, you’ve got to be on the MySpace and Facebook scenes.
